The government of Canada has issued a visa-exempt online based travel verification system for foreign nationals. It is an electronic Travel authorization or eTA. If an individual is travelling from a visa-exempt country to Canada, they'll need an electronic Travel authorization to enter. An eTA is electronically linked to an individual's passport. Application for an eTA is taken via the web and processed as quickly as possible. Once eTA is approved it will be valid for the next five years. Note that, US citizens are exempt from eTA requirement. With a valid eTA an individual can travel to Canada often for short stays up to six months at a time.
